This maximizes productivity and takes full advantage of the print engine’s potential. Produces high quality, square-edged booklets of 8 to 224 pages with the look and feel. A system coupled with the Plockmatic RCT module enables sheets to be printed in both a long and short edge orientation. The spec sheet is on if you need details. Plockmatic booklet makers takes the mid-range print finishing to a new level of performance. I put a video of the unit up on my YouTube site 2 Knife Trim Overview - YouTube if you want to see the unit. Uniquely combines stitching, folding, spine forming and trimming to produce SquareBack books up to 224 pages. Also the 2 knife has 'fingers' for spine support so your square edge (which is an awsome 'poor mans' perfect bind) remains nice and square. So if you change a print size / cut requirment via the document, you need to change your cuttter UI settings.
Booklet making needs that will not exceed an average 15,000 booklets per month. Staples and folds up to 30-sheets, four images to a sheet, creates a booklet of up to 120-pages.
Note that you program the 2 knife cuts from the trimmer UI, not on your DFE as part of the job. The Plockmatic Pro 30 Booklet Maker is a compact inline booklet maker capable of stapling, folding, face trimming and square folding saddle-stitched booklets.
But, you are right, a Guillotine works great on square edge, but, you have labor and another process (I did premake some 3 sided booklets in our lab on a guillotine for the show, and I thougth the in-line booklets looked better, and they were easier to do automatically). If you do a lot of 3 sided booklet work it is a solid investment. I used the unit and ran it for 5 days at Print13 and was pleased with the simplicty and robustness (it was my first time using it). We just added the 2 knife option this Sept at Print13, we have sold / installed a few in the US and Canada with good results.
